Sunset Rubdown @ The Brooklyn Masonic Temple 3.27.08

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

What do you get when you take a shy and modest band like Sunset Rubdown and put them in the bright lights of a highly sponsored "Boost Mobile" event? A couple of awkward comments and another electric performance. Spencer Krug and Co. does not disappoint when it comes to giving their fans a night to remember. From songs that are cemented in all of our playlists to songs from their most recent release to brand new songs never heard preformed live this show had it all. Spencer apologized throughout the show for the composure of the new songs but, no offense to Spencer, no one was in agreement. They were amazing! The venue was set up like a carnival or a circus, of sorts, offering tickets for beer, a photobooth, and everything from t-shirt to bling give-aways. The more genuine and interesting table set-up came from David Horvitz, who, was accepting blank Polaroids and selling dollar bills. Reminding us that there is much more going on in music and art than just plain, blatant sponsorship. After the show, Spencer commented on his excitement to be working with David and hinted to other projects S.R. would like to get involved with...ie, picture disc. Well, of course, I brought along the recorder and managed to get the show uploaded for your listening pleasure. Despite the volume change after Trumpet Trumpet, Toot Toot ends and the New Song begins the recording sounds great and I am also in the process of putting audio to the video i took of Winged/Wicked Things. Enjoy these tracks and stay tuned for more shows to come...it's show season, son.
